2023 Pagani Super Utopia. It all started with the C8 (The Almighty Zonda) project in 1999 in a small workshop not far from Modena with only 25 employees, then came the C9 in 2011 (named after the wind god Huayra) built in search of global markets and innovative integration solutions such as Active aerodynamics and carbon titanium.
No heavy batteries, no hybrid power, just a great V12 engine; There is no dual-clutch system, only a seven-speed manual or automatic transmission. All this to ensure that the car responds better than ever to every action of its driver and works with them to be the purest form of driving, a "classic" experience defined in new ways. The new car has very few aerodynamic additions but is more efficient than ever.
Where some supercars have multiple spoilers, the utopia incorporates the functionality of these additions into its overall shape, achieving greater downforce and less drag through its design. Everything about this car is an art but it also has to be functional as the forged wheels have a turbine-shaped carbon fiber extractor that pulls hot air away from the brakes and reduces turbulence under the body.
The side mirrors, as if suspended in the air, are separated from the body for better aerodynamic penetration, which indicates the subtle improvement made to them in the wind tunnel. The taillights float on either side of the rear wings installed in the air hoods.
The distinctive titanium tetrahedron is still present. It has a ceramic coating for efficient heat dissipation, but still sets the weight above 6kg for the complete system. The dual-suspension system, made from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, benefits from the Huayra R's extended development work but has been adapted and tamed for road use.
It increases turnover and is more flexible and robust while meeting the most stringent emissions regulations, including those in place in California. As for the transmission, the choice was a philosophical one. The dual-clutch transmission will not be effective, but it is heavy and robs the driver of the ability to adjust the pace of the car's acceleration. Instead, Pagani turned to Xtrac, the reputable, high-performance transmission manufacturer, to develop the fastest helical gearbox possible. They are compact, lightweight and transversely mounted to improve the center of gravity.
Pricing is still unknown at the moment, but that's not a problem as the first series of utopia coupes has already been dedicated to its 99 premium enthusiasts finalizing their configurations these days. The improvement never stops, the story of Pagani continues, and the work of Pagani continues
