What's new from the modern Porsche 959 1986.

Let's find out the new and modern Porsche 959 is a sports car that Porsche built from 1986 to 1989, initially as a Group B rally car but slightly redesigned and engineered to become a street-legal Porsche and in this video, I'm going to play around with what a Porsche is. 959 can look as if it was built today. I will redesign it as a 2021 Porsche 959.

Is the Porsche 959 rare.

The Porsche 959 was the rare modern car that inspired Enzo Ferrari to build something better, something faster with the F40. The F40 was faster but not by much, but what the F40 didn't have was the leather interior, air conditioning, radio and other luxury features that were standard on the 959.

Was the 959 the fastest car in the world.

In its first year in 1986, it held the title of the world's fastest street-legal production car, and was considered the most technologically advanced sports car ever and the first proper supercar.

Does 959 Porsche have all-wheel drive.

The 959 was one of the first high-performance vehicles to use all-wheel drive, and it did so well in the vehicle that Porsche chose to make all-wheel drive standard on all 911 Turbo versions starting with the 993 variant.

What about the 959 Porsche engine.

The Porsche 959's water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine produced 444 horsepower and was a compact, efficient and incredibly powerful power unit for its time. The 959 Porsche has a top speed of 198 mph with a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. The quarter mile was completed in just 11.8 seconds.

What is the secret of distinguishing the Porsche 959.

The way in which the Porsche 959 installed the turbines on the 959 was unique. Rather than installing every turbo on every cylinder bank, the 959 had the distinction of a sequential turbo setup that gave the car smoother power delivery and less turbo lag. Personally, I somewhat like the turbo delay. It's exciting to see the RPM creep up by 3-4000 RPM and then take off like a rocket. Safe and comfortable? Maybe less than if you didn't have it but who cares, turbo deceleration is fun.

The original Group B car was introduced in 1983 but the street-legal version of the Porsche 959 was revealed at the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show as a 1986 model. However, some technical issues delayed it by more than a year.

How was the aerodynamics of the 959 Porsche designed.

The aerodynamics of the car was designed to increase stability, as was the automatic adjustment of ride height that became available on the car on the road (961 race cars had fixed suspension). Its drag coefficient was as low as 0.31 and the aerodynamic lift was completely eliminated.

How much is a 959 Porsche.

Customer deliveries of the 959 street variant began in 1987 at $225,000 per unit. That was still less than half what it cost Porsche to build each one, which seems pretty normal when it comes to experimental supercars like the 959. Production ended in 1988 with the 1989 model. In total, 337 were built.

No less than 959 and one rally copy called the 961 are still in the historic Porsche Hall in Stuttgart, Germany.

In 1992-1993 Porsche decided to build 8 additional cars from spare parts of the 959th manufacture. 4 of them were in red and four were silver. Designed specifically for collectors of Porsche cars and were also much more expensive than the previous 959 models, these 8 92-93 are the most preferred of them all. But good luck finding one.
