2022 BMW X6 Top levels of driving performance and dynamism, near-perfect powertrain options, the 2022 BMW X6 has impeccable proportions and finishes. Its low-square sibling is more practical, the V-8 model has ample supercharging, and the infotainment system needs simpler menus. Elegance in interior space, the mostly excellent X6 fits the bill.

BMW X6 how many horsepower?

The 2022 BMW X6 ramp-back features a pair of impressive engines: a 335-hp inline-six (40i) and a 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 (M50i). Thrill seekers will want the latter, but it comes with a hefty price tag. Both mills are mated to an automatic transmission that is smooth as they are. Peak performance is delivered in the six-figure X6 M (reviewed separately), but even the less extreme models are fun to drive. The regular X5 is more upright and practical, but the 2022 BMW X6 is luxurious on the inside and better suited to extroverts.

What's new for the 2022 BMW X6?

For 2022, BMW has made quite a few tweaks to the X6 lineup. The most notable update is the removal of the rear-engined, six-cylinder model. The X6 40i now comes precisely with the brand's own xDrive all-wheel drive system. This contributes to a $2,300 base price hike, which is exactly what the optional system cost before it was added last year. Other small changes include the addition of improved Bluetooth and the subtraction of wireless device charging to the list of standard features, revised option packages, a different set of individual options, and new metallic paint colors (Sparkling Brown and Dravit Gray).

What distinguishes the 2022 BMW X6?

What sets the 2022 BMW X6 apart Despite the more sophisticated sounds and bolder acceleration offered by the 523-hp X6 M50i, we don't need to spend nearly $20,000 extra on it. The alternative to this is the presence of a six-cylinder X6 40i engine, and it will be standard with the all-wheel drive system .. Work has been done on the M Sport package, which includes a sleeker body kit and exterior trim, and an upgraded exhaust system, featuring a retuned suspension, that distinguishes 2022 BMW X6 features a unique steering wheel.

Does the X6 offer third row seats?

The X6 offers third-row seating. The Deluxe Seating Package is a solid value that adds ventilated front seats with additional power adjustments and massage functions. Those who live in cold-weather places like us will appreciate the new Climate Comfort Package. It includes four-zone climate control, heated seats in both rows, and heated steering wheel and armrests.

Engine, transmission and performance?

The X6 40i is powered by a 335-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder in-line hybrid and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The M50i has the same transmission and four-wheel drive as well, but a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 lt is much more powerful. Its 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque helped it hit 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds at our test track. Even more shockingly, the X6 M has up to 617 horsepower and is even faster. However, the standard six-cylinder engine is very quick and smooth. The X6 40i and M50i also have precision adaptive dampers and wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches. Our testing of the V-8-powered X6 revealed its impressive cornering grip and stopping power. Although its suspension is stiffer than the setup on the six-cylinder X6 we tested, it was never punishing. We also appreciated the adjustable steering weight and quiet interior at cruising speed.

Interior, comfort and cargo?

Unsurprisingly, the X6's interior looks like most other new BMW products. That means upscale materials and soft-touch surfaces, and two large 12.3-inch digital displays dominating the dashboard. The dashboard appears slick, the gauges are a mess. Fortunately, the optional head-up display is much clearer. The rest of the switchgear is also cleverly designed. BMW's Gesture Controls - which enable you to control certain functions such as volume by waving your hand in front of the infotainment screen - are included but are not essential. Plenty of standard amenities are also offered, including 16-way power-adjustable front seats, customizable ambient lighting, heated front pillows, and passive entry.

The BMW X6 looks like Don Corleone, meaning it's the godfather of the coupe SUV. The original version that debuted in the late 2000s essentially invented the controversial breed, which spawned imitators from the likes of Audi and Mercedes-Benz. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to this crossover crossover, it's polarizing.
